  5. Aligning the Instrument

  7. The patient's eye level should be in 
  8. alignment with the pointers on the 
  9. side of the instrument.  To do this the 
  10. instrument is rotated to one side so 
  11. the examiner can sight along side the 
  12. instrument aligning the pointer and 
  13. white horizontal axis line (like 
  14. sighting a gun) with the center of 
  15. the patient's eye.

  17. Be sure to loosen the lock on the 
  18. left side of the instrument to allow 
  19. the instrument to rotate side-to-side.
